Colson Update: Stephen Colson Files Bankruptcy
On Friday September 4, 2009 Stephen Colson filed for personal bankruptcy in federal court in Gulfport. Here is the Petition and Creditors Matrix. This is not surprising because Colson's businesses were shut down late last year or early this year. Although expected, the news is still sad. I hope Colson's legal problems work out in a way that give him a chance to rebuild his life at some point.
Colson's lawyer in the bankruptcy case is Jackson based attorney Craig Geno. Mr. Geno is one of the leading, if not THE leading, bankruptcy lawyers in the state. I'm sure that he will do a good job on the case.
Mr. Thomas - Why have you gone soft on Mr. Colson after his firm misused the funds of not only the A&O companies but many other firms and individuals.Do you feel it was ok for him or his staff to do this?Why the change of heart?
I have not gone soft on Colson. If I had, I would not be reporting on his personal bankruptcy filing. When the federal court cases were remanded to state court, it cut off my information on Colson. With the recent bankruptcy filing, I should be able to start reporting more on the Colson situation. My understanding is that federal authorities are looking at the Colson situation and will bring criminal charges if they are warranted.
Not surprised. I hope he looses everything. We still have not got our money to pay off our house that we sold so I do not feel sorry for him at all. Our credit score has dropped 100 points because of him. Yes, we will get our money one day but for right now our credit is ruined. I can't wait for the court date and he has to stand in front of all us that he has hurt with his greed. I will be there and I will smile when he is sent to jail. It is hard to rebuild your life when you are in prison for the rest of your life.
Why have you made it your mission in life to report anything about Stephen Colson. Why do you have such a personal interest in the case. Do you really know all the facts or are these just rumors you picked up from your fellow allegedly ethicial attorney friends. How dare you stand in your glass house and throw stones at anyone. I know who you are Brandi and while I can understand that this is an emotional topic for you, I am not the enemy. My first post on this subject was based on an article in the Sun-Herald. The rest of my posts are based on court filings that are public records. This story has public interest and I am not acting as a lawyer in reporting on it.
hey, since all of this colson controversy isn't getting any media attention i think that you should contact FOX news channel about this and tell them whats going on. They are not into ponzi schemes or the rich getting away with anything just because they have money. i'm sure they would love to give this some publicity, and brandi i can obviously see your related to the man,he's either your father or your husband, and if he's your father he's lying and if he's your husband he's cheating on you and you don't care cause he has money. you have no idea what he's done to our family, i had perfect credit and now its ruined. he deserves jail time.
Mr. Thomas, why is it that you are the only one that i see reporting anything on Steve Colson? He ruined everything i worked for. I agree with (Steve Colson Victim) you should contact Fox News or something and get this story covered. I feel sorry that his family has to be with him through all of this, i've heard he has kids, and a wife, and its not fair to them that he's a crook.I mean it doesn't stop If its not steeling satelite signals he's ripping something off. I mean look at all of the things you've reported about him.. Seriously you don't have to know the entire story about his situation to realize that nothing he does is an accident. Please tell me why no one else reports on him???
Brandi, you have no idea what Colson has done. Eight months have gone by and everyday I am on the phone with someone trying to get our "sold" house paid off. He stole money plain and simple. I do not care if you know him or if you are friends with him, plain and simple his has hurt a lot of people. This has made me sick at my stomach. We have worked hard our entire life, never ever missed a payment on our house note, sold our house and then three weeks later we find out that the money is gone? Our credit is ruined, not because we couldn't pay our house payment, because the money was not there when the mortgage company went to collect on the check he sent. The FBI took everything from him because he was doing something illegal. You certainly have the right to "protect" your friend or family member, but I and many other have the right to have justice served. I am very thankful that Mr. Thomas has chosen to write about Colson, anything else that is written on the Gulf Coast seem to disappear. How would you feel if everything you had worked for was stolen away from you??? Think about it before you post again.
i used to work for stephen colson at his bs restaurant red eye grill. There always seemed to be something fishy going on between him and the chef that worked there. but i remember finding out about the stolen satelite signal and all of the garbage and then found out that my aunt was one of his victims. Since i found out i quit and have been doing everything i can to let everyone know what he has done and not to eat at that restaurant. (which i really don't think is his, because of all he's done, i think that his partner Dr. Clay Bratton was having to sign the checks for a while, but at the time i left, they were in debt to conco food, and were having to buy their food from wal mart and winn dixie, everything that went on up there was shady, and i just want to say that i'm sorry to all of you who were affected by this man, especially my aunt. We should all stand together and do something about this man. it's not fair for his kids to grow up knowing what their father is. Brandi you can't protect him for long, and if he does get away with it, which he probably will seeing as how he's got Geno and Sam Owen and allof these really good lawyers who i happen to know very well by his side, just know what goes around comes around. he'll get whats coming to him. i too have someone in my family that was affected by him. We are currently putting together a group to stand against this evil that has ruined numerous peoples lives and stolen countless things to try and get publicity, and sit out in front of his restaurant with signs stating what he's done. so far we have only gathered up around 25 to 30 of our family and friends that are willing to do this, if you are interested in standing together against this man and making sure he gets the full penalty you can contact me at

Lisa i think thats awesome what you are trying to do. i am all for it. i can't believe whats been done with all of this and that i ahven't even seen any of it on the news. i would love to stand in front of his restaurant and stand up for whats right. ok you guys everyone has been lighting up my email and i just want to let you know that when we do finally get together on this we have to plan it out, and think of a completely safe and legal way to do this, either around or in front of his restaurant. We have to get the medias attention somehow on this and the picketing idea is the only one i have that i think can work. But i've been talking with some of you that are suing colson and i'm guessing its gonna take a couple years maybe before he even goes to court. so we have to get together and act fast.

Red Eye Grill is a legitimate business. Almost 25 people are employed by this restaurant. These are hard working honest people just like you. They have done nothing wrong except trying to earn a living. Many of these people live and survive off of their jobs. Im not saying you people don't have a legitimate complaint, i would probably be doing the same thing and saying the same stuff if I was in your shoes. I can't even imagine it. But if you go through with it you might end up putting some honest hard working people like yourself out of a job. Maybe i'm wrong but i think these people should be considered before something happens. And finally wouldn't you get more coverage if you did it in front of a City building. And lastly wouldnt it be better to do it on a public land, you would have less of a chance of getting in trouble
Mr. Colson was paid $300.00 to stop forecloser on my son grandmother house , and after taken her $300.00 of $600.00 to help stop her foreclosure he told her he couldn't help her, but come to find out he is the first Mortgage Outlet borrower trustee of her loan on $29,600.00 on a home improvement loan this is a 78 year old black female lost her family home due so call lawyers and trustees investor. He need to go jail or help all those people he has done wrong in losing their homes ,because some of them people are to old to be trying to buy another home again. please help the one's that can't help themselves.
You need to contact the Sun Herald and WLOX on this. We contacted the Sun Herald and that is how most people found out about this. Call them, ask questions because for some reason NO one will talk about this. If he took your money you need to step up like I did and make it known. I have contacted everyone and there brother, they are starting to listen but I am just one person.
ok, im not involved in this in any way, but heard someone talking about this the other day and they couldnt answer my questions, so I googled it & this is what I found.. wow, talk about good reading, I had know idea all this was going on & I live in Biloxi!! Anyway, my questions are this;
Did Colson take the money & deposit it into his personnel account?
Did Colson take the money & deposit it into a prestige title account?
If so, did Colson transfer any funds from prestige account to personnel account?
If Colson deposited all money into the proper accounts, and didn't do anything illegal then he's innocent (of that crime, tsk-tsk on the satellite mr colson). Anyway, My heart goes out to all those that are involved & I hope a resolution is in sight..
Dear confused, We have had 140,000+ dollars stolen from us and the money did not go to pay off our home through our mortgage company.....so the money went somewhere and not into the Advanced Title Account to our mortgage. The are several companies that he owned. Yes, he did do something illegal....many, many things illegal. Who honestly has time to type them all out. Just read here and you will find the start of it.
Dear Concerned, 25 people is a small number of people to what your boss stephen colson has done. If you are not stephen colson yourself, or todd isert, or brandi. I have someone on the inside telling me whats going on up there so just know that someone you might be trusting or getting ready to trust more might be letting me know whats happening in there because they know they're working for an evil man. My inside affiliate also tells me that no one up there really cares weather they stay or go because their not making enough money serving, and that steve is still making illegal decisions with some of the employees. NOt telling you what because i dont want my inside person fired. And that the majority of your restaurant are servers and there are only like 3 cooks, maybe more. but no we are doing it in front of red eye. so get over it.
If he is guilty of these things then why hasn't he been arrested? maybe there is more to this story than the victims realize and he really is innocent.It seems if he had done these things he would have been arrested for embezzlement.I have heard alot of good things about him & that he has helped many people in his life. I am just saying it's innocent until proven guilty not guilty until proven innocent.I hope everyone gets their money back but if he is innocent he won't be able to get his good name back. This is just a sad sitution.
i work for steve at red eye grill and i've been reading all of this daily. and lisa if he really did what your saying he did to you i don't think that i should be punished for it. I have to have my job, i have a baby on the way and what you are planning on doing is hypocritical in so many ways. if he really did do whatever it is your talking about then the product of what you are planning to do will take the same toll on me and lots of the other cooks in his restaurant(Seeing as how you say the servers do not make money). and just incase your putting to much trust into your "inside affiliate" there are more than 3 cooks that work in the kitchen. No matter what steve did or didnt do, he has never done anything to me but pay me my hard earned money so i can live my life and go about my day. So be a hypocrite if you want, but that would make you no better than what you are saying he is.
Just in case anyone was wondering, the Red Eye Grill has reopened under new ownership. There is absolutely no affiliation by any of the previous owners or management.
We do not pretend to understand anything about the case regarding Mr. Colson, but would just like the public to know that he no longer has anything to do with the Red Eye Grill.
