Haley Barbour is Running for President
Book it. He's running.
Ya'll Politics reports on the latest announcement that Governor Barbour hasn't decided whether to run for president in 2012. Let me translate the political-speak.
What he said:
I'm not giving serious thought to running for president until after the November election,” Barbour said at a breakfast sponsored by The Christian Science Monitor.
What he meant:
Of course I'm running. Why do you have to ask? Are you stupid? What do you think I'm doing up this early speaking at this breakfast? I've been running for a good year. By "serious thought" I mean leaking it to the press and making a formal announcement. That will come after the November elections when the Democrats get killed due to the economy.
Can Haley win:
Yes. No question. The 2012 presidential election will be decided based on what voters think of Obama and the economy. Whoever gets the Republican nomination can win, with the possible exception of Palin. But I don't think she will get the nomination.
Getting the nomination is a crap shoot. But Haley has a good a chance as anyone. I would not bet against him.
I also disagree that Haley is positioning himself for the vice-president slot. Since when does Haley want to play second fiddle? Vice-president would be a consolation prize.
Agree but here is the sure fire litmus test. If we see him losing weight and beginning to speak more with a moderate accent and less drawl, he is running. He looks too much like Boss Hog with the extra weight and Iowa/New Hampshire voters would likely be turned off by the accent. If we here him start saying "can't" rather than "caint," he is running.
I dont see how anyone can run for office who has planned to cut the education budget to create jobs. I know I am not that good at math but that don't add up. All I can say is if this clown gets elected pick up your fire arms and get ready america its gonna be a bumpy ride.

@Alvin Considering that education eats up a full 50% of the state budget and has 155 districts each with a superintendent that makes around 150k a year, this is the absolute best place to cut. You could throw every dollar ever printed at education but it will never improve without a major overhaul. As far as the clown comment well... I would rather have a clown in the white house than another 4 years of the donkey.
All I can say is that if he is running. Im going to make sure me and my three kids register to vote so we can vote against someone who doesnt watch out for the people. How can anyone think he would be good to run the United States when he cant even run mississippi. The state is taxed to death and the working man has no rights here. what about getting it where companies cant fire you just because you breathe.

The best place to make cuts is at the expense of our children who are the future of this country and the under payed teachers that are trying to teach them in overcrowded classrooms in schools that in some areas have trash cans lined up & down the hall to catch the water from the leaking roof when it rains? Your almost as ridiculous as Haley Barbour thinking he could run the country after he's raped and robbed the hard working people of MS. Haley Barbour makes me want to throw up! Watch out America! Do your homework before you vote for this joke of a governer. Down here in "his" state people are losing their jobs left and right and trying to live off of merely $800 a month unemployment. Try taking care of a family of 4 on that. People are being kicked out of their homes. They can't afford food for their families. They can't afford to take their sick children to the doctor etc. These are not live off the state families. These are hard working people that have lost their jobs and can't get assistance because "they make too much" on unemployment. MS is SO screwed up and Haley Barbour has only added to the opression of the people here. If Haley Barbour is America's next president, I hope you are in the small group of wealthy politicians big business owner favor doing assholes that have destroyed this great country. If you are, you will be fine. If you are a GOD fearing, hard working, honest American... all I can say is God help us!
Justin I agree with you 100% Barbour is the best thing for this country. We need a hard working southerner who cares about the people and can get us out of this shit hole Obama has put us in. Melissa what the hell are you talking about you obviously don't know anything. You are a prime example of why Palin or any other women want run this country because they don't know what is going on and to polite to do what really needs to be done there just about as bad as this jackass that's running the country now.
