More Info. for Lawyers Searching for Tatworth Electronics

Last month in this post I quoted an email from a "Tatworth Electronics" that appeared to be a lawyer email scam. Since that post there have been a lot of visitors to this site from people who found the site through a google search for "Tatworth Electronics."

For people researching Tatworth I encourage you to do the following:

  1. go to google maps;
  2. insert Tatworth's address: 29 Pine Dr., Great Neck, New York.
  3. go to the street view.

What did you see? The offices of an international security company? Or the end of a cul-de-sac in a residential neighborhood?

Don't be a sucker.

Gary J. Wachtel, Esq. - May 4, 2011 3:34 PM

This is the email, I just received from Tatworth Electronics. Thank you for your web posting.

Dear Wachtel,

I called you at your office today, and spoke to you about our case detail. As per your request, here is our case detail.

Let me start by introducing the company I represent. Tatworth Electronics are acknowledged security and electrical experts throughout United State. It’s authorized to cooperate with foreign individuals and partners for a comprehensive range of security solutions for domestic and commercial premises in the North America and other parts of the world. We request your representation to counsel us in litigation and enable us collect a debt owed to us by a delinquent seller. We do appreciate your time in reviewing our request and we will do everything possible to ensure a smooth and hitch free business relationship. We are ready to work with you to achieve our goal as the importance of your services cannot be over emphasized.
We are of the opinion that once our presence is established in your state via a legal representative our seller will have no option but comply with payment request which will be accompanied with legal action and litigation will push for payment to the accounts with immediate effect.
We believe that a normal scenario will require a phone call or demand letter from you to our seller if your services is retained. Although we believed that litigation should be applied as a last resort as we intend to preserve the relationship we have with our seller. Though we do hope not to resort to litigation unless all other options are exhausted, but we will like the comfort of knowing that the option is available and letting our seller know that litigation may be enforced if the option becomes necessary.

The sales invoice and the contract agreement signifies Avnet Headquarter in phoenix Arizona but they have branches all over the state. The sales transaction between our company and the delinquent seller was done in your state of jurisdiction

Avnet Electronics

11 Penn PLZ, FL 5,
New York, NY 10001

This particular seller owes our company approximately $325,110.00, the delivery date is far overdue and our regular purchase agreement requires seller to deliver goods not later than 30 days upon payment or legal action may be taken if delivery delay exceeds 60 days. We happened to have placed an order of enclosures, racks and cabinet materials worth $650,220.00, and they demanded we pay 50 percent of the purchase price before delivering the products. Payment to this seller was made on 20th November 2010 and our calculation shows that delivery is Months late.

It will be very helpful if we receive your standard retainer agreement, as this will enable our board decide on the conditions of the retainer in the next board meeting. We thank you for your business as we look forward to your prompt response.

Sincerely,

Amanda Green

Thanks Philip!
I do commercial litigation, and it is for this exact reason that I rue an online presence. I have never received a legitimate client inquiry from my site. Aside from serving as an online resume, I question the efficacy of having a website for client generation.
Among commercial litigators, is my situation unique?

I'm a personal injury lawyer in Arizona and I just received a request from Tatsworth Electronics to "be our representatives to enable our company collect a debt owed to us by a delinquent seller." I knew it was a scam but Googled them just to see what kind of website they created. That led me to your blog. I must receive two of these scam solicitations each week. I worry about inexperienced, hungry lawyers who may fall for this scam.

For a good chuckle take a look at the the website for the 3rd Annual Nigerian Email Conference - http://j-walk.com/other/conf/
