Defense Verdict in Adams County Silica Trial

There was a defense verdict this week in a silica trial in Adams County that started on Monday.

Patrick Malouf with Porter & Malouf in Ridgeland and Allen Smith represented the plaintiff.

Wade Manor and Chaney Nichols with Scott Sullivan in Ridgeland represented the defendant.

This is a different trial from the Claiborne County trial going on this week. We may be about to get a lesson in the significance of venue.

"We may be about to get a lesson in the significance of venue."

I am quaint enough that I still believe some cases are won and lost on the merits, not on who's counsel, where's the venue, etc. At least, the merits might play some significant role.

@Anderson your second sentence is true - at least in a neutral venue, but as to your first sentence it is rare that the outcome of a jury trial in any case can be completely disassociated from the lawyers, the venue and the venire.

I heard the Plaintiff was a heavy smoker. Also, I heard the remaining defendant who defended at trial was not the target defendant(s) ... who settled prior to trial.
